Technical Copywriter

Onyx Enterprises is a worldwide distributor and marketer of specialty automotive products.  We are currently seeking a Technical Writer dedicated to its automotive ecommerce segment CARiD.com. 

CARiD continues to experience rapid growth as being ‘the NAME’ for all automotive parts and accessories.  We are actively seeking the right creative word-smith to join our team-our culture-our family. Job Description & Skills Required

The primary responsibility of the Technical Writer is to convey thoughts, ideas, technical data and product specifications in a detailed, yet easy to understand, fashion for both customers and employees. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Research, understand, create, review and edit/enhance a vast array of product information for web content in a brief, informative style.
  • Responsible for writing user manuals, reports, reference materials and brochures.
  • Ensure accuracy and format of all technical product information.
  • Collaborate with departments/management in order to ensure new and existing product information is shared.
  • Special projects as needed.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • MUST have knowledge of automotive terminology and basic automotive concepts.
  • A minimum of 5 years prior experience in technical writing of documentation (i.e., product descriptions, user manuals, reference materials) in the ecommerce space.
  • Ability to research, understand and organize specialized content for the website.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate any technical terminology into an informative piece in a detailed and concise format that the average reader can understand
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly 
  • Be Internet savvy and have strong navigation skills
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, & Excel
  • BA/BS in English, Journalism or completion of an accredited technical writing training program is preferred.  Additional experience may offset the degree requirement
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel).
